Fri Mar 14 14:45:43 UTC 2025: ## Ishan Kishan’s IPL 2025: A Chance for Redemption?

**Hyderabad, India** – Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes Ishan Kishan’s move to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2025 mega auction presents a crucial opportunity to resurrect his international career. Despite a record-breaking ODI double century against Bangladesh in December 2022, Kishan has fallen out of favor with national selectors, a situation Chopra finds perplexing.

Kishan, acquired by SRH for ₹11.25 crore after being released by Mumbai Indians, faces stiff competition for a spot in the playing XI. SRH already boasts a formidable opening pair in Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. This might relegate Kishan to the number three position, a role he’s occasionally filled but isn’t ideally suited to.

The presence of established wicketkeeper-batters like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson in the Indian team has further hampered Kishan’s prospects. The loss of his BCCI central contract last year further underscores his struggles.

Chopra, however, remains optimistic. He argues that Kishan’s versatility – his ability to open or bat in the top order – remains a valuable asset. He suggests that the fluidity of India’s batting order currently diminishes the significance of a fixed position, offering Kishan a renewed path to national selection. The IPL 2025 season will be pivotal in determining whether Kishan can seize this chance for a comeback.
