Fri Mar 14 10:10:00 UTC 2025: **Severe Storms and Tornado Threat Predicted for West Tennessee**
JACKSON, TN – West Tennessee residents are urged to prepare for severe weather Friday night into Saturday, according to WBBJ 7 Storm Team Meteorologist Joel Barnes. A significant weather system will bring the potential for supercell thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds.
While weak storms impacted the Mississippi border earlier today, the main threat begins Friday evening after sunset and continues into early Saturday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of West Tennessee under a level 3/5 risk for severe weather on Friday, with some areas northwest of Madison County at a level 4/5.
Friday will start pleasant with highs in the low 80s, but conditions will deteriorate as the evening progresses. Storms are expected to develop near the Mississippi River and move eastward overnight. All severe weather modes are possible Friday night, including intense straight-line winds, large hail, and tornadoes.
The severe weather threat will partially subside Saturday morning before resuming in the early afternoon, primarily along the Tennessee River. While the tornado threat is lower on Saturday compared to Friday night, some tornadoes remain possible. Gusty winds are expected across the region on Saturday. The system should clear out of West Tennessee by Saturday evening.
Cooler, drier conditions are forecast for Sunday. Highs will be in the low to mid-70s on Saturday and around 60° on Sunday. Lows will drop into the mid-40s by Sunday morning.
WBBJ 7 encourages residents to download their weather app and stay updated on the evolving situation through their website and TV broadcasts over the next 36 hours. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
