Thu Mar 13 22:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Patriots Ink Former First-Round Pick K’Lavon Chaisson to One-Year, $5 Million Deal
**Foxborough, MA** – The New England Patriots have added a veteran pass rusher to their roster, signing former first-round pick K’Lavon Chaisson to a one-year, $5 million contract, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported.
Chaisson, 25, arrives in New England after a journeyman season. The LSU product, a first-team All-SEC selection, was drafted 20th overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020. After his rookie contract expired, the Jaguars declined his fifth-year option. He subsequently signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers this past offseason, but was released before the start of the regular season. He briefly joined the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad before being promoted to the active roster.
In 15 games (four starts) with the Raiders in 2023, Chaisson recorded 32 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, an interception, and two passes defensed. The Patriots hope Chaisson can provide a boost to their pass rush in 2024. The deal represents a significant investment for a player who has yet to fully live up to his draft status, but provides the Patriots with a proven edge player on a relatively short-term contract.
