**TIRUNELVELI, March 14, 2025** – While government school enrollment is declining across Tirunelveli district, one Panchayat Union Primary School in Munneerpallam has bucked the trend, attracting 25 new first-grade students. The school’s success is attributed to a proactive outreach program by teachers who visited families in the surrounding villages over the past two weeks.
Teachers highlighted the benefits of government school education, including the 7.5% reservation in medical programs and 20% reservation in employment, as well as the “Puthumai Penn” and “Thamizh Puthalvan” schemes. They also showcased the school’s improved facilities, such as smart classrooms.
The enthusiastic response culminated in a celebratory procession, with the new students, accompanied by their parents, welcomed to the school with garlands, music, and flowers.
