**New Delhi, March 11:** Former Indian captain Mithali Raj lauded the efforts of Gujarat Giants’ Bharti Fulmali and Simran Shaikh in their closely fought Women’s Premier League (WPL) match against Mumbai Indians, despite Mumbai’s nine-run victory. Speaking to Jio Hotstar, Raj highlighted Fulmali’s impressive fifty as a turning point in the game, praising her improved all-around batting skills and ability to score across the field. She also commended Shaikh’s contribution in pushing the Giants close to victory.

While acknowledging Mumbai Indians’ experience and ultimately their win, Raj noted several uncharacteristic errors in their fielding, including dropped catches and missed run-outs, which allowed Gujarat to score extra runs. Despite these lapses, Mumbai’s Harmanpreet Kaur was named player of the match for her own fifty.

Mumbai Indians currently sit second in the WPL points table, with a crucial match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Tuesday. A win would secure them a direct spot in the finals.
