Fri Mar 14 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Lions Add Veteran Quarterback Kyle Allen to Depth Chart
**Detroit, MI** – The Detroit Lions have bolstered their quarterback depth, signing veteran Kyle Allen, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported. Allen, a journeyman quarterback who entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers in 2018, brings considerable experience to a Lions backfield already featuring Jared Goff, Hendon Hooker, and Jake Fromm.
Allen’s most extensive starting experience came with the Panthers in 2019, where he compiled a 5-7 record in 12 starts. Since then, he has seen action with Washington, Houston, Buffalo, and most recently, Pittsburgh, where he spent the 2023 season primarily backing up. His time in Detroit will see him compete for a backup role behind Goff, with Hooker, a 2023 third-round pick who saw limited action last season, currently holding the QB2 position. Fromm, who has not appeared in a regular season game since 2021, rounds out the current depth chart. The addition of Allen provides the Lions with additional veteran leadership and experience at a crucial position.
