Thu Mar 13 01:36:42 UTC 2025: ## Khamenei Rejects Trump’s Overtures, Warns of Retaliation

**Tehran, March 13, 2025** – Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dismissed US President Donald Trump’s letter proposing negotiations and warning of potential military action, calling the threats “unwise.” Khamenei, while acknowledging that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had received the letter delivered by a UAE official, stated that the offer of talks was a deceptive tactic aimed at swaying public opinion. He accused Trump of previously abandoning a signed nuclear agreement.

Khamenei reiterated Iran’s refusal to engage in direct talks while US sanctions remain in place, asserting that such discussions would only tighten the sanctions. He strongly denied Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, stating that the country’s choice not to develop them is a matter of its own will, not US capabilities to prevent it.

While emphasizing Iran’s desire for peace, Khamenei warned of a decisive response should any attack occur. Trump’s administration, having reinstated “maximum pressure” sanctions, has recently called for a new nuclear deal with Iran. The situation remains highly tense.
