**New Delhi, March 17** – The Delhi Capitals have finally announced their captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, naming veteran all-rounder Axar Patel to the role. The 31-year-old, a long-serving member of the Delhi Capitals since 2019, becomes the last IPL captain to be appointed before the season’s start.

Patel, who boasts an impressive record of 967 runs and 62 wickets in 82 appearances for the Capitals, takes over the captaincy from Rishabh Pant, who recently transferred to the Lucknow Super Giants. His appointment comes after a successful Champions Trophy campaign with India, where he contributed significantly both with the ball and bat.

“It is my absolute honour to captain the Delhi Capitals,” Patel said in a statement. “I’ve grown as a cricketer and a human being during my time here, and I feel ready and confident to lead this side.”

The Delhi Capitals begin their IPL journey on March 24th against the Lucknow Super Giants in Visakhapatnam.
