**Chennai, March 14, 2025** – The Greater Chennai Police (GCP) launched a summer relief program today, providing traffic police personnel with buttermilk and pith hats to combat the rising temperatures. The initiative, costing approximately ₹37.56 lakh, will run from March to June.

GCP Commissioner A. Arun personally distributed the first pith hats at the War Memorial on Kamarajar Salai. The program allocates ₹30,000 daily to provide 4,864 buttermilk packets (at ₹6.33 each) to officers during both morning and evening shifts.

Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, R. Sudhakar, and other senior officers were present at the launch. The program aims to ensure the well-being of Chennai’s traffic police during the hot summer months.
