Meghalaya Police have registered a case against the Brigadier, who is accused of multiple incidents of inappropriate behavior, including verbal abuse, physical intimidation, and threats. The complainant, whose husband is a Colonel stationed in Shillong, reported the alleged harassment last Monday. Her statement details several incidents, the most recent occurring on March 8th at an Officers’ Mess function. She alleges the Brigadier made repeated inappropriate remarks, escalating to physical intimidation that required her husband’s intervention. Further incidents, including an alleged threat to her life and inappropriate comments about her clothing at separate events, were also reported.
The woman stated that the trauma caused by these incidents prevented her from reporting sooner. The police have filed a case against the Brigadier, charging him with sexual harassment, insulting the modesty of a woman, and criminal intimidation. The Indian Army has yet to release an official statement on the matter. The investigation is ongoing.
