**Mumbai, [Date]** – Mumbai police have arrested a 50-year-old woman for allegedly honey-trapping and extorting Rs 18.5 lakh from a 74-year-old businessman. The victim, the managing director of a medical disposables firm, filed a complaint with the Malvani police station on March 7th.

The woman, who introduced herself as a singer, met the businessman in May 2023 and developed a relationship with him. Over several months, she allegedly extorted money under various pretexts, including studio rental, house purchases, and other fabricated expenses. The victim initially transferred Rs 12.5 lakh in June, followed by further payments totaling Rs 6 lakh. The scheme unraveled when the woman demanded a further Rs 4-5 crore in September.

The situation took a dramatic turn when the woman, after a stay in a Goregaon hotel, returned with police from Dindoshi station, resulting in the businessman’s arrest on rape charges. He was released on bail after several months in jail and subsequently learned he had been the victim of a honey-trap.

Following the revelation, the businessman provided police with evidence, including video clips, leading to the woman’s arrest. Police investigations further revealed that the woman had filed a molestation case against another man last year. She is currently facing charges of extortion and other offenses under the Indian Penal Code.
