**Chennai, March 13, 2025** – The Southern Railway announced today that it will add an additional general second-class coach to the Vaigai and Pallavan superfast express trains, boosting passenger capacity. Starting May 11th, the Madurai-Chennai Egmore Vaigai Superfast Express (12636) and the Chennai Egmore-Karaikudi Pallavan Superfast Express (12605) will each have four general second-class coaches, up from the current three. The Chennai Egmore-Madurai Vaigai Superfast Express (12635) and the Karaikudi-Chennai Egmore Pallavan Superfast Express (12606) will receive the added coach on May 12th. The upgraded train configuration will include three AC chair cars, twelve chair cars, one pantry car, four general second-class coaches, one differently-abled friendly coach, and one luggage-cum-brake van.
