Thu Mar 13 14:56:25 UTC 2025: **Andhra Pradesh to Build Integrated Tomato Processing Unit to Aid Farmers**

KURNOOL, Andhra Pradesh – A new ₹11 crore integrated tomato processing unit is set to be built in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, offering a lifeline to local tomato farmers and creating employment opportunities. The foundation stone will be laid on Friday by Industries, Commerce, and Food Processing Minister T.G Bharath in Dudekonda village.

Funded by the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and Operation Green, the unit will be built on 2.5 acres of land allocated by the district administration. With a monthly processing capacity of 1,200 metric tonnes of tomatoes, it is expected to provide direct employment to 32 people and indirect employment to 100 more. The facility will also process mangoes, bananas, guavas, and papayas. The project is spearheaded by the Andhra Pradesh Food Processing Society (APFPS) and aims to provide sustained livelihoods for farmers in the region. Local officials and elected representatives will attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony.
