Thu Mar 13 15:38:53 UTC 2025: **Kerala Police Bust Fake Aadhaar Card Ring, Arrest Two**
KOCHI, March 13, 2025 – Ernakulam Rural police have cracked down on a fake Aadhaar card manufacturing operation, arresting two individuals from Assam and seizing materials used to create fraudulent identification documents. The two centers, operating under the guise of mobile phone accessory businesses, were discovered following an intensified campaign targeting irregular migrants in the region.
Authorities seized counterfeit Aadhaar cards, laptops, printers, lamination equipment, and ₹75,000 in cash during raids. The investigation revealed the centers used customer-provided SIM card addresses to create fake cards for undocumented migrants, predominantly suspected to be from Bangladesh. Approximately 40 such migrants, possessing these fake Aadhaar cards, have been detained.
District Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena highlighted the serious security implications, stating that these centers could be exploited by criminals to conceal their identities. Police suspect additional fraudulent operations exist within the district and are collaborating with state counterparts to dismantle the network. The ease of producing these fake cards, lacking any authentication process, is a major concern. The discovery marks a significant development, as while the existence of such centers outside Kerala was known, their presence in Ernakulam was previously undetected.
