Thu Mar 13 13:12:54 UTC 2025: ## Coimbatore Anti-Terrorist Squad Officer Dies by Suicide
**COIMBATORE, March 13, 2025** – A 54-year-old Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) from the Coimbatore Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), M. Chokkalingam, was found dead on VOC Grounds in Coimbatore on Thursday morning. Police believe he died by suicide.
Chokkalingam, a resident of Kovaipudur, reportedly left for work as usual on Wednesday. He attended a colleague’s housewarming ceremony before returning home. Later that evening, he attempted suicide at his residence but was stopped by his wife. He subsequently left the house, telling his wife he needed time alone, and was found deceased early Thursday morning.
An inquest was conducted by the Race Course police, and Chokkalingam’s body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem. He joined the police force in 1997 and is survived by his wife and two married daughters.
