Thu Mar 13 10:26:14 UTC 2025: **West Bengal Assembly Passes Resolution Condemning BJP Leader’s Remarks**

KOLKATA, March 13, 2025 – The West Bengal Assembly today passed a resolution condemning Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari for his controversial comments targeting Muslim MLAs from the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). The resolution, moved by TMC chief whip Nirmal Ghosh, passed by voice vote after BJP members walked out in protest.

Mr. Adhikari’s remarks, made earlier this week, suggested that Muslim TMC MLAs would be expelled from the Assembly should the BJP come to power. Mr. Ghosh argued that these comments attacked the country’s religious and social fabric.

The BJP’s walkout followed the Speaker’s refusal to allow a discussion on a matter raised by the party. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee previously criticized Mr. Adhikari, accusing the BJP of promoting a “fake Hinduism” in the state. The incident further escalates tensions between the ruling TMC and the opposition BJP in West Bengal.
