**New Delhi, March 13, 2025** – The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is encouraging citizens to upgrade to more durable PVC Aadhaar cards. These plastic cards, costing only ₹50, offer enhanced security and convenience compared to paper-based Aadhaar cards.

The PVC Aadhaar cards are more resistant to damage and feature security enhancements such as holograms, QR codes, ghost images, and microtext, making them more secure for both online and offline verification. Their credit-card sized format makes them easy to carry.

Any Indian citizen with an active Aadhaar number can order a PVC card online through the official UIDAI website, https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. The process involves entering your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID (VID), security code, and completing an OTP verification. Payment can be made via UPI, debit/credit cards, net banking, or digital wallets. Once the payment is processed, users receive a Service Request Number (SRN) to track their order.

UIDAI emphasizes that the Aadhaar number must be active and updated for successful PVC card ordering. A registered mobile number is also required for OTP verification. The card is expected to arrive within a few days of ordering. This upgrade is particularly beneficial for those whose existing Aadhaar cards are damaged or lost.
