Thu Mar 13 14:25:41 UTC 2025: ## Viral Meningitis Scare at Kalamassery School: One Student’s Case Confirmed as Viral Fever

**KOCHI, March 13, 2025** – A viral meningitis scare at St. Paul’s International School in Kalamassery has been partially alleviated. While five students from Classes I and II were initially hospitalized exhibiting symptoms including fever, irritability, headache, and vomiting, district health authorities have confirmed that one student only suffers from viral fever. The District Medical Officer (DMO), Asha Devi, stated that this student showed no signs of viral meningitis.

Test results from samples sent to the National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha are still pending for the remaining four students, who remain hospitalized in two private hospitals. As a precautionary measure, St. Paul’s International School will remain closed until March 16th.
