CHICAGO (March 12, 2025) – A shooting outside O’Hare International Airport’s Terminal 2 early Wednesday morning left one person wounded. According to Chicago police, the incident began around 1 a.m. with an argument between two groups at a baggage claim area. The altercation escalated into a shootout outside the terminal, resulting in a 25-year-old man being shot in both legs. He was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and is listed in stable condition.
Authorities recovered a staggering 57 shell casings at the scene. The shooting caused damage to a Terminal 2 window, which was later boarded up. While the incident caused initial disruption, O’Hare International Airport reported that all lower-level arrival lanes were fully operational by 5:15 a.m. Airlines operating out of Terminal 2 include Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, and JetBlue.
Mayor Brandon Johnson addressed the incident, emphasizing that the shooting occurred outside the terminal doors and that airport operations are unaffected. He also reiterated the urgent need to curb the flow of illegal firearms into Chicago communities. Police are interviewing a person of interest and the investigation is ongoing.
