Thu Mar 13 13:02:19 UTC 2025: ## BSF Seizes Rs 5 Crore Worth of Heroin Dropped by Drone near Rajasthan Border

**Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan:** The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized 1.116 kg of heroin, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 5 crore, near the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan. The drugs were allegedly dropped by a drone originating from Pakistan.

Acting on a tip-off from vigilant villagers who witnessed a drone crossing the border late Wednesday night, a joint team of BSF and CID officers launched a search operation. The heroin was discovered Thursday morning in a barley field approximately 2.5 kilometers inside Indian territory, near the 4 FD checkpoint close to pillar number 333/1S in the Gajsinghpur police station area. Gajsinghpur police subsequently took possession of the narcotics.

Authorities suspect this is not an isolated incident and believe more heroin may be hidden in the surrounding fields. A thorough search operation is underway, with the BSF, CID, and local police intensifying patrols and setting up roadblocks.

This seizure follows a recent arrest of a drug smuggling gang in Punjab, also using drones to traffic heroin from Pakistan. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has voiced serious concerns about the escalating threat posed by drone-based drug smuggling across the border, highlighting the national security and public health implications. The latest operation underscores the ongoing efforts to combat cross-border drug trafficking and the effectiveness of cooperation between security agencies and local communities.
