**Tehran, Iran** – Veteran Iranian actor Mohammadreza Sharifinia, known for his roles in numerous films and television series, recently revealed details of his arrest before the Iranian Revolution in an interview on the popular television program “Bermuda” with host Kamran Najafzadeh.
Sharifinia, born in Tehran on June 15, 1955, is the former husband of actress Azita Hajian and father of actresses Mehran and Melika Sharifinia. He began his acting career in the mid-1970s with theatre performances before transitioning to film in 1991 with the movie “Ovinar.” While he had a minor role in Dariush Mehrjui’s 1994 film “Peri,” his career blossomed afterward.
In the “Bermuda” interview, Sharifinia disclosed that his pre-revolution arrest stemmed from his attendance at meetings led by Dr. Ali Shariati and his involvement in the distribution of Shariati’s books. He was arrested and designated as a “ringleader.” Despite the gravity of the situation, Sharifinia described the experience as fascinating, highlighting his cellmates: prominent figures including Ayatollah Taleghani, Ayatollah Montazeri, and Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani. The interview provided a rare glimpse into a lesser-known chapter of the actor’s life.
