**Chennai, March 11, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has vehemently reiterated the state’s opposition to the National Education Policy (NEP), accusing Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan of blackmailing the state by linking the release of ₹2,000 crore in funds to its acceptance.
Speaking at a government function in Chengalpattu, Stalin criticized the NEP, alleging it aims to privatize education, promote religious fundamentalism, and increase the central government’s control over education. He further condemned Pradhan’s withdrawn comment referring to Tamil Nadu representatives as “uncivilized,” praising the state’s MPs for their swift response in forcing a retraction.
Stalin highlighted the DMK MPs’ strong opposition to the NEP in the Lok Sabha, contrasting their stance with that of the AIADMK MPs. He emphasized the state’s commitment to fighting for its educational rights, declaring that Tamil Nadu would not accept the policy even if offered significantly more funds.
In addition to his political statements, Stalin announced the establishment of a new SIPCOT industrial park in Chengalpattu and unveiled several new projects totaling ₹497 crore, while also inaugurating others worth ₹280 crore. He also distributed government welfare assistance worth ₹508.3 crore to over 50,000 beneficiaries. The event was attended by several ministers, MPs, and officials.
