Tue Mar 11 08:32:59 UTC 2025: ## Security Guard and Driver of NTK Leader Seeman Denied Bail, Appeal Pending
**Chennai, March 11, 2025** – The Madras High Court adjourned until Thursday a bail hearing for M. Amalraj, 50, security guard, and B. Subakar, 34, driver of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader S. Seeman. The two men are accused of obstructing a police inspector and allegedly attempting to shoot him with a pistol on February 27th at Seeman’s Neelankarai residence.
The charges stem from two separate FIRs. The first was filed by a Sub-Inspector who claimed he was attempting to serve a summons related to an alleged rape case when Seeman’s driver tore up the notice and both men used abusive language. The second FIR, filed by Inspector R. Praveen Rajesh, alleges that Amalraj and Subakar refused entry to the politician’s bungalow and that Amalraj attempted to shoot him with a pistol. Police recovered a pistol with twelve rounds of ammunition. The Inspector claims the pistol’s use violated licensing conditions.
The accused deny the charges. They claim the police notice was read and its contents conveyed to Seeman and his wife before its removal. Amalraj asserts he surrendered his licensed pistol to the police, alleging the attempted shooting claim is fabricated. They also allege police brutality during their arrest.
Their bail plea was previously rejected by the Chengalpattu Principal Sessions Court on March 6th, citing the seriousness of the attempted murder charge and the risk of evidence tampering. The Madras High Court will hear the prosecution’s counter-affidavit before making a decision.
