**QUETTA, PAKISTAN** – The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group fighting for independence in Balochistan, has claimed responsibility for seizing a passenger train in Pakistan, killing six Pakistani soldiers and taking hundreds of passengers hostage.
The attack occurred on the Jaffar Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, in the Mushqaf area of Balochistan’s Bolan district. The BLA reportedly blew up sections of the railway track to halt the train before boarding and taking control. The train, carrying over 400 passengers across nine carriages, is currently being held by the militants.
In a statement released on social media and attributed to BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, the group warned of killing the hostages if Pakistani security forces attempt a rescue operation. The statement explicitly claimed responsibility for the attack and the deaths of the six military personnel.
