Tue Mar 11 10:40:50 UTC 2025: ## Man United Unveils Plans for £2 Billion, 100,000-Seat Stadium

**London, England** – Manchester United has announced ambitious plans to construct a new £2 billion ($2.59 billion) stadium with a capacity of 100,000, making it the largest football stadium in Britain. The new venue will be built adjacent to the club’s historic Old Trafford ground, which has served as its home since 1910.

Co-owner Jim Ratcliffe hailed the project as the start of “an incredibly exciting journey” to create “the world’s greatest football stadium.” Architectural designs were unveiled at a London event, showcasing the scale of the undertaking.

The project, which has received government backing, aims to revitalize the Old Trafford area. Manchester United estimates the development could generate 92,000 new jobs and 17,000 new homes, boosting the British economy by an additional £7.3 billion ($9.44 billion) annually.

The decision to build a new stadium rather than redevelop Old Trafford follows years of consideration. The current 74,140-seat stadium, while currently the largest in England, has faced increasing criticism in recent years due to issues such as roof leaks and pest infestations. This significant investment marks a major step for the club and a substantial commitment to its future in Manchester.
