**Chennai, March 11, 2025** – The 54th National Safety Week concluded yesterday at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) in Manali with a call for increased use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in industrial safety. S. Ananth, Director of Industrial Safety and Health, Government of Tamil Nadu, emphasized the need for thorough accident analysis to prevent recurrence, highlighting the liability of factory owners for worker safety violations.

Ananth also stressed the importance of incorporating AI technologies for improved workplace monitoring and lauded the training sessions conducted by the directorate to foster a stronger safety culture. He further emphasized the significance of legislation such as the Environment Protection Act and the Public Liability Insurance Act.

M.V. Karthikeyan, Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health, urged worker participation in safety management systems and their right to report immediate dangers. H. Shankar, Director (Technical) and Managing Director (in-charge) of CPCL, highlighted the company’s adherence to international safety standards and its use of AI-powered surveillance during plant shutdowns.

The event concluded with the presentation of awards to top safety performers and competition winners.
