Tue Mar 11 11:56:23 UTC 2025: ## Kejriwal Faces New FIR over Alleged Misuse of Public Funds for Hoardings

**New Delhi, [Date]** – Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is facing a new legal challenge after a court ordered the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against him and two other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for alleged misuse of public funds. The Rouse Avenue Court’s order follows a petition alleging the misuse of funds for erecting large hoardings, a case dating back to 2019. A lower court had previously dismissed the petition.

The court directed Delhi Police to register the FIR and submit a compliance report by March 18. This latest development comes as a fresh blow to Kejriwal, who recently lost his own constituency in the Delhi Assembly elections and is currently out on bail in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam.

The BJP, a long-time critic of the AAP, has repeatedly accused the party of misusing public funds for self-promotion during its over ten years in power. The party cited several instances, including a January 2023 demand by the Directorate of Information and Publicity for AAP to reimburse ₹163.62 crore for allegedly misusing public funds on political advertisements. More recently, the BJP highlighted discrepancies in spending on various government schemes, claiming significantly more funds were spent on publicity than were allocated. Examples cited include the Business Blasters, Desh Ke Mentor, and Stubble Management schemes, where promotional costs allegedly far exceeded budget allocations. This new FIR adds to the mounting legal and political pressure on Kejriwal and the AAP.
