Mon Mar 10 14:04:36 UTC 2025: ## Kozhikode Prepares for Summer: Water Kiosk Inspection Ordered
**Kozhikode, Kerala – March 10, 2025** – With the summer season approaching, the Kozhikode District Disaster Management Authority has initiated measures to ensure adequate water supply across the district. Following a meeting chaired by District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh, officials have been directed to inspect all 451 water kiosks, repairing any non-functional units.
To address potential water shortages, officials will work with local bodies to identify affected areas and deploy tanker lorries as needed. Local bodies are also tasked with clearing blockages in water canals and removing waste to prevent fire hazards.
In addition to these immediate measures, the Irrigation department is constructing new check dams and vented cross bars (VCBs) while renovating existing structures and reviving ponds to enhance water storage. To protect outdoor laborers from the heat, their working hours have been adjusted, prohibiting work between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The Labour department will ensure compliance.
