Mon Mar 10 02:36:12 UTC 2025: ## Parliament Resumes Amidst Expected Opposition Showdown

**New Delhi, March 10, 2025** – The second part of India’s Budget session commenced today amidst heightened anticipation of a clash between the ruling government and opposition parties. The opposition plans to focus on several key issues, including alleged manipulation of electoral rolls, the recent violence in Manipur, and the government’s handling of relations with the previous Trump administration. The Trinamool Congress, along with the Shiv Sena (UBT), Left parties, Samajwadi Party, and potentially the DMK, will specifically target the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) issue and the upcoming delimitation exercise. The Congress party is yet to finalize its strategy.

The government’s agenda includes securing parliamentary approval for budgetary demands, finalizing the budget process, approving the Manipur budget, and passing the Waqf Amendment Bill. Home Minister Amit Shah will table a resolution seeking parliamentary approval for President’s Rule in Manipur, which was imposed on February 13th following Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s resignation. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is also scheduled to present Manipur’s budget today.

The first part of the session concluded on February 13th. While the government aims for a smooth passage of its legislative agenda, the opposition’s planned scrutiny of electoral processes and the situation in Manipur promises a contentious session.
