Mon Mar 10 12:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Lions Re-sign Linebacker Turner, Barnes; Release Reeves-Maybin

**DETROIT, MI** – The Detroit Lions have bolstered their linebacker corps, announcing the re-signing of Ezekiel Turner to a one-year contract and Derrick Barnes to a three-year deal. The news comes as the team also informed Jalen Reeves-Maybin that he will be released on Wednesday, the start of the new league year.

Turner, whose agents broke the news on social media, originally joined the Lions’ practice squad on November 6th before being promoted to the active roster just three days later. In nine games, he contributed significantly on both defense and special teams, recording 12 total tackles, half a sack, and tying for third on the team with five special teams tackles.

Barnes, a strongside linebacker, secures his future in Detroit with a three-year contract extension. His re-signing, along with Turner’s, represents a commitment to retaining key players from the 2022 season.

The release of Reeves-Maybin, a core special teams player, marks a roster shift as the Lions look to reshape their lineup for the upcoming season.
