**Punta Cana, Dominican Republic –** A frantic search is underway for Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student who vanished while on spring break in Punta Cana. Konanki, originally from Loudoun County, Virginia, was last seen walking along the beach on Thursday, according to local authorities and the New York Post.
Konanki, described as 5 feet 3 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes, was wearing a brown bikini and several pieces of jewelry at the time of her disappearance. A missing person poster details her attire, including large round earrings, a metal anklet, and several bracelets.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they were contacted Thursday evening regarding Konanki’s disappearance. The University of Pittsburgh has also released a statement expressing their support for Konanki’s family and confirming they are working with local authorities in both Virginia and the Dominican Republic to locate her.
A search and rescue team, Defensa Civil, launched a search on Saturday evening but suspended operations for the night, resuming efforts on Sunday. Konanki is expected to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh in 2026. Her major is currently unknown.
