**Chandigarh, March 10, 2025** – Punjab Police announced the arrest of Shehnaz Singh, also known as Shawn Bhinder, an Indian-origin transnational drug lord wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in connection with one of the largest narcotics seizures in the U.S. Bhinder, a resident of Brampton, Canada, was apprehended in Ludhiana.
The FBI had arrested six of Bhinder’s associates on February 26th, seizing 391 kg of methamphetamine, 109 kg of cocaine, and weapons. Bhinder, who evaded capture in the U.S., had allegedly been operating a transportation business as a front since 2014, facilitating the movement of drugs from Colombia to the U.S. and Canada via Mexico. Police investigations suggest he was transporting approximately 600 kg of cocaine weekly.
Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrest is a significant success within the ongoing “Yudh Nashian Virudh” (war against drugs) campaign launched on February 25th. Bhinder is also wanted in an Arms Act case in Tarn Taran, further highlighting his involvement in organized crime. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities exploring links to other notorious drug traffickers.
