**GURUGRAM, March 10, 2025** – The Panipat Municipal Corporation elections, held on Sunday, March 9th, saw a voter turnout of 52.5%, a decrease of approximately 9% compared to the 2018 polls. State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh reported that the elections proceeded peacefully, with the final turnout figures expected to rise slightly after all polling booth data is received.
Approximately 2.14 lakh voters cast their ballots across 365 booths to elect members for 26 wards and the Mayor. The Panipat election was held separately due to a delay in voter list revision.
Four candidates are vying for the Mayor’s position: Komal Saini (BJP), Savita Garg (Congress), Preetpal Singh Khera (AAP), and an Independent candidate, Kewal Singh. Vote counting for the Panipat Municipal Corporation, along with 40 other municipal bodies, will take place on March 12th.
