**Visakhapatnam, March 10, 2025** – The East Coast Railway’s Waltair Division has significantly boosted its iron ore transport capacity with the completion of a 9.143-km track doubling project between Bacheli and Kirandul in Chhattisgarh. The project, commissioned on Sunday, addresses prior security concerns and enhances the smooth flow of iron ore from the Bailadila mines.
Commissioner of Railway Safety (South Eastern Circle) Brijesh Kumar Mishra, along with senior railway officials, oversaw rigorous inspections including track assessments, station evaluations, and testing of new signaling and bridge infrastructure. A successful speed trial confirmed the line’s readiness for operation.
The upgrade is a strategic move for the Waltair Division, strengthening connectivity and supporting increased traffic demands crucial for regional economic growth. The enhanced capacity will facilitate the efficient transport of iron ore to various parts of the country.
