**New Delhi, March 10, 2025** – Delhi police announced the bust of a major betting syndicate in Govindpuri, South Delhi, resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals, including the ringleader. The operation, carried out on March 4th following a tip-off, led to the seizure of ₹83,000 in cash.
The mastermind, identified as Ashok Kumar, ran the operation with his son, Sanju, and nephew, Rohit, from two locations within Govindpuri. Police stated that Kumar managed the betting operation himself, accepting bets on numbers for various games without using intermediaries.
Kumar confessed during interrogation that he turned to illegal betting after experiencing financial losses in his departmental store business. He has a prior criminal record, having been previously charged under the Excise and Gambling Act. The investigation is ongoing.
