MUMBAI, March 10, 2025 – Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presented the state’s 2025-26 budget today. This marks the first budget for the newly formed Mahayuti government and Pawar’s eleventh budget as Finance Minister, making him the second most prolific budget presenter in Maharashtra’s history after Sheshrao Wankhede (13 budgets).

Pawar’s presentation was highlighted by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) as a demonstration of his financial prudence and commitment to balanced development. The NCP cited his handling of the state’s finances during the COVID-19 pandemic as evidence of his fiscal responsibility. The budget prioritizes infrastructure development and focuses on the needs of farmers, laborers, women, Dalits, tribals, students, and youth. Past budgets under Pawar’s tenure have focused on agriculture, industry, transportation, healthcare, and human resource development.
