Mon Mar 10 05:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Former CCTV Reporter Wang Zhian Accused of Forcing Wife into Divorce in Tearful Live Stream

**TOKYO, March 10, 2025** – A dramatic online livestream has exposed a bitter dispute between former CCTV reporter Wang Zhian and his ex-wife, Li Ting. In a tearful broadcast on March 9th, Li Ting accused Wang Zhian of deceiving her into a divorce after relocating to Japan. The livestream showed Wang Zhian confronting Li Ting, shouting obscenities and threatening to call the police.

Li Ting claimed Wang Zhian convinced her to move to Japan, only to pressure her into signing divorce papers two months later. She recounted how Wang Zhian, who had a prominent online presence before their marriage, demanded she quit her online activities to avoid jeopardizing his career. “He said he wouldn’t have more children, and that our daughter would receive all his fatherly love,” she sobbed, adding that these promises were broken. She also stated that Wang Zhian’s demands included abandoning her career at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, where she had over 8 million online followers in 2018.

The livestream showed Wang Zhian repeatedly yelling at Li Ting to leave his home, culminating in him calling the police. Li Ting, visibly distraught throughout, repeatedly cried out that Wang Zhian was trying to drive her to suicide.

Wang Zhian, who relocated to Japan in 2020 after being mysteriously deplatformed in China, has built a media presence on platforms like X and YouTube. While presenting a seemingly anti-communist stance, he has faced accusations of being a tool of Chinese state propaganda (“大外宣”). He himself has denied these allegations, stating, “I am not anti-communist, nor anti-party.” However, Japanese-Chinese writer Li Xiaomu, who has interacted with Wang Zhian, has previously noted that Wang’s actions often align with the CCP’s interests. This latest incident further fuels these long-standing controversies surrounding Wang Zhian.
