**Tirunelveli, March 9, 2025** – The Tirunelveli Corporation took strong action against tax defaulters today, sealing three commercial establishments for non-payment of dues. The move follows a review meeting chaired by Corporation Commissioner N.O. Sukhaputra, where concerns over timely tax collection were highlighted.
The meeting, attended by zonal assistant commissioners and revenue officials, emphasized the importance of collecting property tax, vacant land tax, water tax, underground drainage service charges, and rent from corporation-owned properties. To improve collection efficiency, Commissioner Sukhaputra instructed officials to open tax collection centers on weekends across all four zones.
In addition to the sealing of three commercial buildings in the Thachanallur zone, 83 water connections were disconnected due to outstanding tax payments.
