**Turbat, Balochistan, Pakistan –** Prominent Pakistani religious scholar Mufti Shah Mir was assassinated on Friday, March 6, 2025, in Turbat, Balochistan, according to reports in the Dawn newspaper. Mir was shot multiple times by unknown gunmen on motorcycles as he left a mosque after evening prayers. He was rushed to Turbat hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Police cited in the Dawn report stated that the armed men opened fire, leaving Mir seriously wounded. Mir, known for his affiliation with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F), had survived two previous assassination attempts. This attack follows the recent killings of two other JUI-F leaders in Khuzdar. The motive behind the attack remains unclear. An investigation is underway.
