**Chennai, March 9, 2025** – The third edition of IInvenTiv2025, a technology showcase held at IIT Madras, highlighted a wave of groundbreaking innovations across various sectors. A standout innovation was Waterfly Technologies’ Wing-in-Ground (WIG) craft, promising affordable and rapid sea travel. This electric sea glider, capable of carrying 20 passengers, aims to drastically reduce travel times and costs. The company, supported by IIT Madras, projects a Kolkata-Chennai trip (1600 km) costing just ₹600 per person – significantly less than existing train options. Commercial launch is targeted for late 2026.

* **A humanoid robot:** Developed by SRMIST, Kattankulathur, this robot is designed to interact with and comfort patients in intensive care units, addressing hospital staffing shortages.
* **A quantum microscope:** Developed by a startup from IIT Bombay, this microscope offers enhanced cell study capabilities, paving the way for advancements in drug development.
* **Innovations in biotechnology and agriculture:** Several institutions showcased advancements in biosurfactants, herbal lip balms, anti-cancer moisturisers, and precision agriculture technologies.
