**Chennai, March 9, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated International Women’s Day by recognizing outstanding contributions to women’s empowerment and investing in the future of female students. He presented the Avvaiyar Award to Yasoda Shanmugasundaram, former Vice-Chancellor of Mother Teresa Women’s University, for her significant work in the field.
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to hand out appointment letters to three women who successfully completed training under the Naan Mudhalvan Scheme. Furthermore, five students received a combined ₹3.50 crore in funding from the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department to pursue postgraduate studies at foreign universities. This significant investment underscores the state government’s commitment to supporting women’s education and advancement.
