Sun Mar 09 01:15:00 UTC 2025: ## Five Arrested, Properties Razed in Madhya Pradesh Cow Slaughter Case

**Bhopal, March 9, 2025** – Five men were arrested in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday for the alleged slaughter of a pregnant cow. Police also demolished structures they claimed were illegally occupied by the accused. The arrests follow a similar incident in Ujjain earlier this week, where two men accused of cow slaughter were reportedly paraded and beaten by police.

According to Damoh Superintendent of Police Shrutkirti Somvanshi, the five men, including prime accused Kallu Kasai, were arrested on charges of cow slaughter and attempted murder. A separate FIR was filed for the attempted murder based on a complaint from Hindu right-wing organizations, including the Hindu Jagran Manch, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and Bajrang Dal. The SP stated that the accused had encroached on municipal property, and the demolished structures were allegedly used for illegal cow slaughter. Kasai has 16 prior cases registered against him, including cow slaughter and attempted murder. The SP added that investigations are ongoing to determine if more individuals were involved.

The police explained that the accused were not paraded, but were walked to court after their transport vehicle broke down. Right-wing groups staged demonstrations protesting the alleged cow slaughter. The pregnant cow, taken to a veterinary hospital, died along with her unborn calf. Authorities are considering invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against the prime accused.
