Sun Mar 09 02:00:00 UTC 2025: **Celtics Cruise Past Injury-Riddled 76ers, Tatum Leads the Way**
BOSTON, MA – The Boston Celtics dominated the Philadelphia 76ers Thursday night, winning 123-105 despite a depleted roster on both sides. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 35 points and seven rebounds, his 24th 30-point game of the season. He sat out the entire fourth quarter as Boston extended their winning streak to nine out of their last 11 games.
The Celtics’ victory was even more impressive considering they were without five key players: Jaylen Brown (knee), Jrue Holiday (finger), Al Horford (toe), Kristaps Porzingis (illness), and Sam Hauser (ankle). Adding to the drama, guard Derrick White returned after suffering a first-half injury that knocked out one of his teeth. He finished with 12 points. Payton Pritchard contributed 19 points off the bench.
The 76ers, also facing a significant injury crisis, lacked the services of Joel Embiid (knee), Paul George (left groin), Eric Gordon (wrist), Kyle Lowry (hip), Tyrese Maxey (back), and Jared McCain (knee). Kelly Oubre Jr. led the 76ers’ scoring with 27 points, but received limited support from his teammates.
Despite a 10th technical foul in the third quarter, bringing Tatum closer to a one-game suspension, the Celtics showcased depth. Young center Neemias Queta had a strong showing in the second half, scoring eight points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing four assists. The Celtics outscored the 76ers 10-0 to start the fourth quarter, solidifying their victory.
The 76ers host the Utah Jazz on Sunday, while the Celtics face the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.
