Sun Mar 09 17:34:46 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Police Raid Bars for Employing Women in Live Bands Without Licenses

**Bengaluru, March 10, 2025** – A raid by the Women Protection Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru uncovered alleged exploitation of women at two bars and restaurants. Brigade Nights Bar and Restaurant on Brigade Road and Dawaath Bar and Restaurant in Koramangala were raided on Monday following a citizen’s petition.

Authorities found that women were employed as bar staff and live band performers without the necessary licenses from the Labour Department and mandatory ID cards, constituting gross violations of labor laws. CCTV footage reviewed by the CCB revealed further violations, including indecent acts contravening government regulations and High Court directives.

The raid also highlighted the negligence of local police in failing to monitor these establishments. Footage revealed a fight between customers on February 18th at Brigade Nights, stemming from a dispute over a woman, highlighting potential law and order issues.

Cases have been filed against the bar owners, building owners, managers, and staff under various sections of the Karnataka Police Act, the COTPA Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
