Sat Mar 08 15:54:22 UTC 2025: ## Puducherry Assembly to Begin Budget Session

**Puducherry, March 8, 2025** – The Puducherry Legislative Assembly will commence its budget session on Monday, March 9th, with the Lieutenant Governor, K. Kailashnathan, delivering the customary address. This will be his first address since assuming office last August.

The session, the sixth of the 15th Assembly, will adjourn after the address and resume on Tuesday. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy will present the 2025-26 budget on March 12th.

This budget marks the first since the Puducherry Planning Board was renamed the Consultative Committee for Transformation. While the committee met in January to discuss ongoing and future projects, the annual outlay was reportedly finalized and sent to the central government for approval. An official stated that clearance is expected before the session begins.

The revised budget estimate for 2024-25 stands at ₹13,235 crore, up from ₹12,700 crore. The 2025-26 outlay is projected to be approximately ₹500 crore higher.

Government sources anticipate the session will last until March 28th, with approximately 15 days of productive meetings.
