Sat Mar 08 12:27:18 UTC 2025: ## 82-Year-Old Suffers Brain Bleed After Fall at Delhi Airport; Air India Disputes Family’s Account

**New Delhi, India** – An 82-year-old woman is hospitalized in the ICU with potential brain bleeds after a fall at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Her granddaughter alleges the incident resulted from a delay in receiving a pre-booked wheelchair through Air India, forcing the elderly woman to walk a considerable distance before falling.

Parul Kanwar, the granddaughter, claims her grandmother, Raj Pasricha, waited for over an hour for the wheelchair before resorting to walking, assisted by a family member. She alleges that Ms. Pasricha received inadequate first aid after the fall, sustaining injuries to her head, nose, and lip, before eventually boarding the Air India flight (AI2600) to Bengaluru. Ms. Kanwar states her grandmother’s left side is now weakening.

Air India strongly refutes the account. In a statement, the airline acknowledges a delay in providing the wheelchair due to “unprecedented peak demand,” but insists the wait was only 15 minutes. They claim the family chose to walk independently and that airport officials and a doctor provided first aid on-site. Air India further asserts that its staff assisted the family throughout the journey and that the offer of further medical attention was declined.

The conflicting accounts have sparked a dispute. Ms. Kanwar has filed complaints with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Air India. The family maintains that a significant delay in wheelchair service resulted in their grandmother’s injuries, while Air India emphasizes that it provided assistance and that the family’s claims regarding the duration of the wait are inaccurate. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
