**Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu – March 8, 2025** – The Tiruchi Corporation is undertaking a major cleanliness drive in preparation for the Swachh Survekshan 2024 national cleanliness survey. Following a strong showing in 2023, where the city achieved a national rank of 112 out of 446 cities and topped the state rankings, the corporation is aiming for even better results this year.
Efforts include a city-wide cleanup removing posters and banners from public spaces, improving waste segregation practices, and enhancing the maintenance of public toilets. A key component of the strategy involves actively seeking citizen feedback through an online survey promoted via social media. The survey focuses on the efficiency of doorstep garbage collection, waste segregation and processing, and the cleanliness of public areas.
City Health Officer, M. Vijay Chandran, expressed confidence in the city’s improved standing, highlighting enhancements to public toilet maintenance, the transformation of previously problematic waste areas, and the strengthened door-to-door collection system.
