**Kalaburagi, March 7, 2025** – The Karnataka state budget for 2025-26, presented Friday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, includes significant investments in healthcare infrastructure for the Kalyana Karnataka region, encompassing seven northeastern districts. This follows a request from All-India Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge.
Key announcements include the establishment of two NIMHANS-model mental health institutes in Kalaburagi and Mysuru, each costing ₹100 crore. This initiative was directly spurred by Mr. Kharge’s request during the December 2024 inauguration of a new building for the Kalaburagi branch of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research.
Further medical improvements for the region include:
* A cancer diagnosis unit at Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences.
* Regional Endocrinology Centres at Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences and Mysuru.
* A new ₹100 crore super-specialty hospital at Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences.
Beyond healthcare, the budget allocates ₹10 crore for a residential sports school in Yadgir district, an Agri-Tech Accelerator in Kalaburagi to boost agricultural technology, a “plug & play” flat factory in Kalaburagi, and the creation of a Sannati Development Authority. Additionally, 1,000 individuals will receive training in Lambani embroidery in Bidar and Davanagere. Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil, representing Kalaburagi, hailed the budget’s focus on the region.
