**New Delhi, March 8, 2025** – The National Commission for Women (NCW) has demanded immediate action from the Punjab Police regarding a sexual harassment case against Pastor Bajinder Singh in Jalandhar. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar stated that the commission has issued a directive to the Punjab Police, demanding a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) and the action-taken report within three days.
The case involves a 22-year-old woman who alleges that Singh, pastor of a church in Jalandhar district, sexually harassed her over several years. The woman claims the harassment began with unwanted text messages in 2017 and escalated to inappropriate touching and hugging in 2022. She reported that she feared the pastor and initially did not disclose the harassment to her parents.
Singh has been charged under sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. The NCW has described the allegations as “a very serious and concerning matter” and has taken suo moto cognizance of the incident.
