**New Delhi, March 8, 2025** – The Indian Navy successfully concluded its three-month-long Theatre Level Operational Exercise (TROPEX) in early March, validating key operational concepts, the service announced Friday. The extensive exercise, spanning the Indian Ocean region, involved approximately 70 naval ships and submarines, over 80 aircraft, and significant participation from the Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard.

TROPEX, which covered a vast area encompassing the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, tested the Navy’s capabilities in diverse scenarios. These included an amphibious exercise (AMPHEX), precision ordnance delivery, cyber and electronic warfare, and tactical maneuvers. The exercise involved a wide range of assets, including Sukhoi-30 and Jaguar fighter jets, C-130 transport aircraft, and over 600 infantry troops. The Coast Guard also contributed with more than 10 ships.

The Navy stated that TROPEX provided a valuable assessment of its ability to address complex maritime security challenges in a coordinated manner. The exercise’s geographical scope extended approximately 4,300 nautical miles from north to south and 5,000 nautical miles from the Strait of Hormuz to the Sunda and Lombok Straits. The high level of synergy achieved between different branches of the armed forces was also highlighted.
